About me

Welcome to my website!

I am a contemporary painter who grew up on the prairies of Canada and I now call Oregon home.   Landscapes have a large influence on me and my art.  My paintings often draw on the relationship between nature and emotion, specifically, the connections between the external world and the internal domain of the soul. I explore the outside finding its way inside and, the reverse.

Painting is a visceral and intuitive exercise.   My process is often chaotic, messy, and full of trust and bravery.    I’ve come to realize that the creative act for me is in many ways an integral part of my journey: accepting imperfections, leaning into fear and vulnerability, striving for authenticity, delighting in surprises, and most of all, letting go.

Whether abstract, expressionist, or impressionistic, I want to be known as an experimenter —be it the application of paint and mark, mixing new colors, using new mediums, surfaces, or tools. I try not to take myself too seriously and revel in the joy of flow.
